About CESiE

Critical Exclusion Studies in Education (CESiE) is a dedicated research and collaborative space. We investigate and challenge the systemic discourses, policies, and practices that sustain educational and social inequities.

Our purpose and origins

CESiE was founded to illuminate the profound harms caused by the stigmatisation, marginalisation, and systemic exclusion of specific communities within education. We offer an analytical environment that interrogates policy, political rhetoric, and professional conventions that continue to entrench unfair divides.

Centring marginalised perspectives

Central to our values is amplifying voices systematically silenced by ableism, racism, classism, and colonial legacies. We examine crucial questions of epistemic authority and institutional power, questioning whose knowledge is valued and whose experiences are routinely disregarded in mainstream education.

Reparative pedagogy and practice

Moving beyond critique, CESiE focuses on reparative pedagogy and constructive responses to difference. We work with educators, researchers, and communities to develop instructional offerings and frameworks that dismantle barriers. "CESiE provides an essential space for critically unravelling institutional inequities and bringing transformative, community-rooted scholarship directly into education policy discussions."
